Alan's entrepreneurial ventures received Queen's Awards for Export and Innovation, recognising both commercial success and international impact.

Background & Experience

Before advising others, Alan spent decades building and leading businesses himself.

He founded, scaled and sold companies nationally and internationally, exporting to global markets and navigating the realities of growth, leadership pressure, and organisational complexity. Along the way, his businesses received Queen's Awards for Export and Innovation.

Those experiences shape how he works today.

He understands the weight of responsibility founders carry because he has carried it himself.

Alan's advisory work began informally, helping fellow founders think through challenges similar to those he had faced in his own companies.

Over time, this became his primary focus.

Today he works as a strategic thinking partner to business owners, helping them see clearly enough to make confident decisions about the direction and future of their business.

Expertise and track record

Alan has supported businesses across sectors including manufacturing, design, distribution, technology, and professional services.

His work has contributed to outcomes such as:

  • sustained profitable growth

  • stronger leadership alignment

  • improved financial clarity

  • successful business exits

  • strategic partnerships and international expansion

While each engagement is different, the aim is always the same: better decisions that lead to stronger trajectories.

Philosophy and beliefs

Alan's approach to business is shaped by the principles articulated in the books Firms of Endearmant and Conscious Capitalism® by Raj Sisodia and others: that successful companies create value not only for shareholders, but for employees, customers, communities, and the wider world.

He believes that:

  • businesses perform best when purpose and commercial discipline reinforce each other

  • leadership clarity is inseparable from ethical responsibility

  • long-term success depends on trust, not optimisation

  • financial results are strongest when the underlying business has a solid base

These beliefs aren't abstract ideals.

They inform how Alan works with entrepreneurs every day - particularly when decisions affect people, culture, and the future direction of the business.

Approach and professional standards

Alan works independently and directly with clients.

His approach combines:

  • entrepreneurial experience

  • financial literacy

  • strategic perspective

  • honest, confidential conversations

Where specialist input is required, he may introduce trusted associates from his professional network; he remains personally involved throughout.

Purpose and core values

Alan's personal purpose and core values underpin the way he works with clients and the kinds of businesses he chooses to support.
